Johansson and Portman W cover March 2008

You have to work pretty hard to make Scarlett Johansson (light
spring) look bad, but they’ve done it on the March cover of W
magazine. Wrong color, maybe. . .
Here you go, Chloe. . .

Elizabeth, I have arranged 2 groups of colors for you. On the top,
light spring. The bottom four are warm spring. What do you think?

I like the warm spring.
Jolene has been a friend to stylemakeovers for some time. I’m happy
to finally see you and help with your coloring.

At left deep winter colors, at right deep autumn
You have coloring very similar to my sister-in-law. You have lots of warmth
in your skin and you look good in both sets of palettes, but I believe your skin
tone is clarified better with the deep winter colors. But the nice thing about the
deep winter palette is that it shares ‘crossover’ colors with the deep autumn
palette, so you still get plenty of the slightly-warmer colors (such as rust)
that you probably enjoy wearing. I hope this helps you, Jolene!
It’s time to take a look at the Republicans. . .

John McCain has a ‘color’ situation that is different than Obama’s.
Don’t let the white hair fool you; he has lots of depth and contrast.
He’s a deep winter.
He could go with more contrast. Although the blue shirt
on the left is fine, I altered the photo on the right and tried
for a little more contrast, which would bring out eye and hair
color a little more.

Barack Obama’s senate photo. . .altered with soft autumn colors on right
Barack Obama’s coloring is a bit tricky. He appears to have an
all-around ‘medium’ appearance. His coloring is subtle, but he looks
to me to be a ’soft autumn’.
Politicians don’t often wear their best colors because of the
social implications of color. Brown, for example, says ‘team player’
from a psychological standpoint, and right now the candidates
would rather be viewed as leaders. Just another interesting
component of color. . .
I saw ‘The Girl with the Pearl Earring’ yesterday and
enjoyed it. Just for fun. . .Scarlett J color-typed as
a light spring along with light spring earring
colors.
A few earring colors are up on the site for the LIGHT SPRING:
